In the bios on this board it had to be set as IDE. It looks like this will take up to 2 Sata drives and can be run in raid as well.

If Setup complains that it can't find a hard drive, then you know that you do need to install the SATA drivers.

Posted 10 M8mm-v - This would indicate that its new enough to use with most current drives. Didnt even have to install sata drivers at the OS XP install.

I just went with it and it worked. Says drivers for VIA sata raid. Looks like the HDD or Mobo manuals are not explaining themselves or I would not have found so many troubles on this.
